Ombré … inside and out

SONY DSC

I enjoyed my last ombré paint effect so much that i decided to attempt it on this lovely glass display cabinet – and completely underestimated how difficult it would be.

Glass cabinets are quite fiddly to do anyway – lots of masking which takes ages – but ombré needs to be spontaneous and that was difficult with so many separate panels.

Nevertheless it worked out ok.

Scandinavian pink to pure on the inside and graphite to pure on the outside – Annie Sloan chalk paint of course.

I do prefer to have the dark element at the top of a piece – it’s like hanging paintings; the biggest and strongest always gets hung on the top, otherwise it looks too bottom heavy.

Inspiration came from a lovely tea cup and saucer I have (see images)
